PressRelease-TeamWWP 2_18_10.pdf

Friends – March 13 is the date for an event that I have been helping plan (I am so thankful that the St. Paul Carnival 2009 Vulcan Krewe are doing most of the work this year – as work has been devouring my time!). I has become my passion the last 18 months to raise money to help the soldiers and their families who have borne the burden of protecting our country the last decade.n our efforts to support the Wounded Warriors.

Vision Statement here:TeamWWP2010VisionDocJAN10.pdf

I have become very close to Captain Matt Cavanaugh, who attended Woodbury HS with my daughter Lisa, then went off to West Point in 1998 (to play Hockey). As a young Lieutenant – Matt was deployed to Iraq for the invasion – where he spent 2+ of his first years on active duty. It was in Iraq during his second tour (2005 – 2006) that Matt decided to take up running, and on Friday 2/12/10 Matt was named the US Army “Athlete of the Year”! An Amazing Achievement in itself!

If you are able to attend our event you will meet a young man who is a rare leader, someone who will be developing our future leaders, and someone who cares deeply about his country and about others. Matt is an amazing young man who has experienced adversity, hardship, and loss that most of us can not even imagine. If you visit Matt’s blog you can read some news articles about why he does this, or listen to a NPR radio story about this exceptional young man. (Interviewed by Dick Gordon – “My Story” and released on NPR last August)

How can you help? – Attend our event (I have tickets) – Donate something for our silent auction &/or buy something from our silent auction (The Vulcan’s plan to auction off use of their Fire Truck for birthdays, bar crawls, etc. – pretty cool event in itself! We have some great donations!) – consider a donation through our secure web page – and/or consider forwarding this to others you think might be interested

Thanks for your consideration!
Tom
