Corporate Member Salute: Paul Wagner (CEO) & Joan Thompson (CFO)
Civilian Salute: Souts Manivanh
Minnesota Wire & Cable Company’s strategic vision includes the embrace of defense industry work in order to find “life saving connections” for Soldiers. They embrace DoD R&D work for the same reason. The company is a corporate member of AUSA, the Navy League of the U.S., the Air Force Association, and the National Defense Industrial Association.
MWCC has a solid record of Veteran hiring practices and received an award late last year from state of Wisconsin for leading in the hiring of disabled Veterans. The company created the Defense Alliance to embrace innovative solutions for Soldiers, and to provide Soldier support – The Alliance has conducted care package drives, has sent pre-paid calling cards to Soldiers overseas, provides free registration for service members in uniform at events, and has a Veteran hiring service on the website.
As Chairman & CEO of MWCC, Paul Wagner has testified before the state legislature several times to support the Governor’s Veterans legislative package (principally with regard to urge the state to provide laws that make Minnesota more “Veteran friendly,” such as the removal of state taxation of military retirement income), and is among the members of the Defense Alliance’s Business Leadership Team for Veterans.
Joan Thompson conducts the major fundraising efforts for the Chapter. The company has been influential in boosting the Vessey Chapter corporate membership by providing links to the Vessey chapter on corporate websites, and encouraging customers to join.
Souts Manivanh is the Executive Assistant of Minnesota Wire & Cable Co. and has been the organizational head of the Toys4Military Children Program for three years. The number of parties & grants to families in need doubled this year and she has consistently administered a high quality program that greatly enhances the Vessey Chapter and all the families who are touched by it. Ms. Manivahn also edits the newsletter and offers administrative support
