New Educational Opportunity
A new support initiative for families is Tutor.com, a DoD- funded effort that provides military families with free, unlimited access to tutoring and career services. This program is beneficial as military parents are not only frequently deployed but also move often causing continual adjustments for themselves and their children to new schools, teachers, classes and homework. Through the Blue Star Museums program, all military members and their families will receive free admission to more than 1,300 museums in all of the 50 states and the District of Columbia from Memorial Day, 30 May, through Labor Day, 5 September. Blue Star Museums is a partnership between Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and museums across the country, and was designed to provide a fun outlet for about a million children who have a deployed parent. This will be only the second year for the program, but more than 300,000 military families participated last year, visiting more than 950 sites across the country. To find the

The theme of the Career Decision Toolkit is “Goal, Plan and Succeed” (GPS). Service members and their families who are separating, demobilizing or retiring are provided new and innovative tools to navigate a smooth and successful transition. These services are also available to recovering wounded warriors and their families to plan effectively for the future. Spouses are encouraged to attend TAP with their service member. More here

TheArmy Wounded Warrior Program is the official U.S. Army program that assists and advocates for severely wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers, Veterans, and their Families, wherever they are located, for as long as it takes. AW2 provides individualized support to this unique population of Soldiers, who were injured or became ill during their service in Overseas Contingency Operations since 9/11.
